Day 1 - Arrive Los
Angeles
You are scheduled to participate in
the 119th Rose parade. This year's
parade theme is "Passport to the
Worlds Celebrations" will take place
on Tuesday, Jan 1, 2008 at 8:00 AM
(PST), and features majestic floral
floats, high-stepping equestrian
units and spirited marching bands
from across the nation. The
tournament boasts flowers, music,
and pageantry unmatched throughout
the world.
Day 2 - Los Angeles
This morning travel to Pasadena and
visit the float construction barns
to observe these enormous floats as
they receive their finishing
touches. Every inch of the floats
must be covered with flowers or
other natural materials, such as
bark or seeds. The Rose Parade's
elaborate floats have come a long
way since the Tournament's early
days. Today, float construction is a
multi-million dollar business.
Although a few floats are still
handcrafted solely by volunteers,
most are built by professional float
building companies. Later today,
return to Los Angeles for a tour of
the sights. Hollywood, Beverly
Hills, and Sunset Boulevard are
included as your day of sightseeing
comes to a close.
Day 3 - Pasadena
Happy New Year! Today you will
return to Pasadena for the grand
celebration of floats and flowers
with a Motorcycle Escort into the
parade. Computerized animation has
had an enormous impact on Rose
Parade floats. Recently, they have
featured working roller coasters, a
50-foot replica of the Statue of
Liberty, a robotic chef with moving
arms, a working water slide and
more-all controlled by computers.
But throughout all these changes,
the Rose Parade has remained true to
its floral beginnings, and each
float is decorated with more flowers
than the average florist will use in
five years. After the parade, you'll
be transferred for a sit down lunch
and then returned to Victory Park
for a City Hall showcase of the
floats.
Day 4 - Conclude Los
Angeles
This morning transfer to the Los
Angeles Airport and head home from
this one-ofa-kind New Year's
excursion. We hope to see you again
soon.
